Once upon a time, Joe Doherty was the pride and joy of his Boston family and a hero among heroes. His team and his country could depend on him. Moreso, he could count on himself. Then came the mission that changed everything, but nothing so much as him.
Joe would like nothing more than to leave the ambush that ended his SEAL career behind, but now his team is working for Black Watch Security, and their sole op is to dismantle the shadowy network behind that ill-fated skirmish and bring home the girls who went missing during it.
His problem is that he hasn’t gotten a solid night’s sleep in the two years since it happened, and his grip on life is getting worse, not better. In a last-ditch effort to return to the man he once was, Joe adopts two rescue dogs who might need more help than he does.
They’re perfect for each other, with one small catch. The dogs come with baggage in the form of a beautiful trainer named Sarah, and she looks at Joe like he might be her next rehabilitation project.
